Hello again!
I’ve started keeping a list on my Notes app of things I’m into and want to share with you. Today’s newsletter features the highlights of that chaotic list, tidied into something legible and perhaps even helpful. Remember yesterday when I said I was going to share a list of 10 things I’m into? That number is now 15, because I kept coming across things I couldn’t not include. Here goes!
The Sculpt Society: This was my go-to pandemic workout, and I’m just now returning to it and remembering why I liked it so much back then. Megan Roup, the creator, designs dance cardio and sculpting workouts that are so hard/fun/silly/sweaty. And she doesn’t engage in diet talk, which is important to me. $19.99 a month for over 600 workouts, a number that grows every week.
iPhone Boundaries: This is a seeeerious work in progress, but I’m trying not to look at my phone for the first hour of every day. When I succeed, I find that it makes a noticeable difference in how the rest of my day goes, which I think is because I approach tasks with a calmer, more focused headspace.
DISSH: An Australian fashion brand that I’m very into right now despite only owning one thing from them that I bought on Poshmark. I’m particularly coveting their dresses like this chocolate linen strapless maxi and this flouncy, color-blocked mini.
NPR’s Up First: Concise daily podcast with “the news you need to start your day.” I listen almost every day.
Mya Gelber’s Style: Saving every other post by this fashion influencer/writer/law student for inspiration. She shares my affinity for linen dresses and red accents.
Love Island USA Season 6: Ugh. Not linking this because there’s still time for you to save yourselves and not get sucked into the Love Island universe! That said, I feel truly validated by the fact that The New Yorker writer Naomi Fry has joined me.
My Perfect Pen: 0.1 mm Staedtler pigment liner in black. Pen freaks unite! I like a skinny-but-clear, clean black line that doesn’t smudge and can stand up to watercolor paint.
Zucchini Butter Spaghetti: I’ve made variations on this recipe every summer since Deb published it in 2021. You coarsely grate zucchini, then cook it down in garlic butter until it becomes more of a jam than a vegetable. With some pasta water, the zucchini jam becomes a silky sauce that coats noodles. Add Parmesan and fresh basil, and it’s a luxurious, simple thing that you should definitely make for dinner.
Spotify Blend: A feature on Spotify that creates a shared playlist with you and up to 10 friends, blending the music you listen to and updating daily according to your listening activity. According to Spotify, my forever friend Tessa and I have a taste match score of 95%, which means that our Blend playlist is absolutely perfect (at least to us). Today’s Blend includes Paul Simon, The Staves, Sabrina Carpenter, Tiny Habits, The Weepies, and SZA, a combination that might not make sense to you but makes sense to us.
