Happy (day after) solstice, sweeties! The days get longer from here! I’m a bit overwhelmed and scatter-brained today, so here are 8 fun things instead of a normal life update.

A friend introduced me to this podcast, and I can’t get enough of it. In each episode, host Kelsey McKinney discusses anonymous, reader-submitted gossip with a special guest. The two of them spend the entire episode dissecting the details of salacious stories that have nothing to do with them or anyone they know. This podcast has proven to me that kind-hearted gossip exists, and that it’s GOLD. My friend Ethan and I spent our drive home to Massachusetts for Thanksgiving listening to a saga about a queer kickball league, and laughed the whole way through. Listen if you, like me, need a way to turn your brain off and have a good cackle.
My favorite TV show of 2022. A perfect dark comedy. I love you and everything you do, Sharon Horgan.
My coworker Jonah has been working hard to launch Second Edition, his very own fragrance company. He designs fragrances that are beautiful, nuanced, and unisex. Salvation, for example, is an inviting, woodsy scent with notes of sandalwood and juniper. It’s a young company, but I’m telling ya now: it’s the next big thing.
We all love Mary Oliver, but do you know Mary Oliver’s Drunk Cousin? This Instagram account is where poet Lyndsay Rush shares her poignant, topical, and often hilarious work. I get something out of each and every poem she shares.
Personality Baseball Caps
Someone please remind me that I don’t need another baseball cap.
Lisa Jewell
For some reason, I’m craving mystery novels right now. Thankfully, I recently discovered Lisa Jewell, a bestselling British author, and am loving her work. She’s singlehandedly filling the hole in my heart that appeared when I finished every single book by Irish-American author Tana French. Try Then She Was Gone for a disconcerting (and wildly entertaining) read.
Do you covet Jenni Kayne sweaters like I covet Jenni Kayne sweaters? If so, let me introduce you to the Quince cotton fisherman sweater — $39.90 to Jenni’s $345, with the same quality and fit. I already have two (navy and gray), and I’ve been recommending it to anyone who will listen. This sounds like an advertisement because it is one.
Emma Thompson
PSA: I love Emma Thompson and this shirt. Loved this movie, too.
Hope you’re all keeping warm and having a wonderful holiday season.
Lots of love,
Phoebs
Hey! I have two of those fisherman sweaters too! (Thanks for the rec. When your daughter texts and says, "This is the sweater of the year," you listen.) And Malcolm has one now too! (Thanks for the rec.)
Oh my, this is like a guide to how to be cool and awesome like Phoebe. Each thing- yes! I love recommendations with links. I didn’t know having a lot of baseball caps wasn’t normal?! Ask Ethan about this… 😘
